WEB AND PRINT// Type/Face Posters

Today I made some posters. The aim is to get people really interested in what's going on, on the site. And to also give them a visual feel of how it the site works.

This work started as an idea to match two different film tough guys and converge two separate fonts over the top. Each font will be a comment on the character depicted. Here The terminator would be a flashy, tacky 80's font and Jackson would have a wild west b-movie woodblock.

This developed into a new idea where you see two sides of Arnold Schwarzenegger with two different fonts describing different stages of his life. Firstly the terminator font for the terminator, which I found as a free download tragically. This may mean I have to mess about with it a bit. The other font will be in the style of a republican party campaign poster, heavy intrusive, bold.

I applied these standard monotone effects to the image. This is purly to tie the poster style into the website aesthetic. I may opt for the black style that I have created for screen print instead.
I chose two free fonts for the text. Airbus and Trmtr NFI. I then cut them down the middle and stuck them together like Frankenstein.
I then overlay the text. I set the transparency mode to difference, this inverted the colours beneath the image, making the text much more legible but still messed up. This isn't the most graceful design but I do enjoy its post-modern style.

I have added some text to the footer of the poster. It is slightly cryptic but I hope this will entice some people to the site. I explain what the images and fonts are here as well as directing the user to the website.
