THE TRUTH// TWEET A TRUTH Poster

Today I designed a quick poster to use as part of our campaign if we choose to. I started off in illustrator but after I saw the website design I felt that I should change tactics and use our standard design style.

I started in illustrator with a simple idea to write a statement or 'truth' and censor some of it up. I want the viewer too see the poster and want to find out what the story is. Hopefully they will be enticed by this idea of discovery to come to our website or twitter page.

I initially worked in liberator font for the text because we have already used it on our website. I find It quite chunky for text like this so I tested a few others including Clarendon. However after some discussion I chose to switch back to liberator because we all felt that the poster needed to 'fit in' with the other products.

Here is the first final layout I created before deciding that I didn't like the posters so far. I added our hashtag to the bottom right and some more bombs to add some depth to the main bomb.

I experimented with colour at this stage and tested several two tone ideas. However this just looks quite garish and flat and wont be used.

I did several different versions with slightly adjusted compositions and colour before deciding to apply the idea of the blanked out truth to the design of our website.

Using Toms website design as a starting point and borrowing the textures he used, I was able to knock up this very quickly with the imagery I had from my previous posters. The colour stays true to the website but I am worried that it would look horrible if we printed this colour, due to colour reproduction problems, and I'm considering a greyscale option if this goes to print. However this poster would certainly gain attention with the colours it uses if they could print well.

I like the poster at the moment, hopefully it will generate intrigue in our websites by only telling the viewer half the story. It is also informative and follows our groups personal style for this project. Perhaps some extra critical views for the rest of the group will lead to some changes but for now I am happy with this (maybe change the colour).
