STAMP IT// Illustrator Lightbulb Idea

Using the sketches I did two days ago I have designed some quick mock ups of the light bulb idea. I designed these in illustrator and the aim is to produce something for the crit to show a range of my ideas.

I used my normal technique of designing several variations of work using a range of art-boards so I can compare and improve my design.

I started this design by tracing over images of light bulbs I found on the internet with the pen tool. I found these illustrations lacked simplicity and legibility, these shapes are not instantly reconcilable.

In the end I designed the light bulb shape using a few simple shapes and no stylisation whatsoever. Adding the text 'bright idea' to imply the importance of the energy efficient light bulb.

I messed around with various fonts and layouts. Personally this is my favorite, Bemio. The curved edges and straight lines of the text match the light illustration.

I thought it might look interesting if the light bulb appeared above the queens head, to imply that she has had a good idea and is using energy efficient light bulbs herself.

I messed around with the composition here also, this one sort of looks like the queen is having a massive drill aimed at her head.

I am going off this idea at the moment. It has simple roots which is good, but they also will restrict the idea massively. I cant really change or do anything interesting here. I think that personally so of my other ideas are more interesting and scientifically engaging.
Also the stamps here look to visually boring. They look just like any other stamps or, even worse, like one of those keep calm posters, with the regal feel and solid colour.
