HOW TO// Plan

This is a very rough design of a hotdog book. Our group decided yesterday that we would design a hotdog book which would help people find the perfect diamond engagement ring. We all made a few designs so that we can collaborate them together and pick the best ideas from the group. Here I am playing around with the prospective content of the book and also some ideas we had for the layout.
Front of the booklet is fairly plain, mixed some solid heavy type and a script like font. I regret the script font because its a massive cliche when its sat next to a diamond. The scan below shows how the ring continues onto the back cover of the booklet.
Also on the back of the booklet is the possible name and address of a possible sponsor for the booklet. If this were to be applied to a real life situation we hope that a jewelers would display the booklet for their customers to use, helping them to make a purchase.

The first page in this experiment covers the basic design styles of the ring, as well as a list of suitable metals and some questions the buyer should think about.

The second page covers the '4 C's', Cut, carat, colour and clarity. It is essential that the buyer is aware of these attributes while looking for a good diamond. A diamond sits in the centre of the page and the facts are annotated around it in a sort of CSI style.

This crude drawing shows the ring size measurement page. This is hopefully where the buyer would use and existing ring to discover the ring size he is looking for. Also attached to the left is a cut out measurement tool. This would be perforated and once removed could be used like a normal ring measurement tape.
