100 Things// Blood Diamond Flyer

This is the only flyer I will design that has a solid wall of body copy. It's function is to basically give some background theory to the whole collection of products. It incorporates a more refined and laid back feel, the front side looks more like a book cover and the back is all text. I did this because I didn't want this one to look too flash and fun like the others but have a more mature, intellectual tone, I suppose to entice the sort of people who will be bothered to read all the text. Overall the flyer has the same purpose however, which is to capture and audience with some interest and then direct them to a website.

The front is again a copy of the poster which should accompany it. The design is also toned down and darkened with a multiply effect on illustrator, which allowed me to bring the blood red and diamond shapes forward to point to the nature of the text on the reverse. The words 'Blood Diamond' are just visible to the reader, which is sort of symbolic of the vague nature of the term, which is discussed in the text, but is also a design aesthetic choice.

The rear is basically just a rant. It focuses on the failures of the Kimberley Process, which is briefly outlined and goes on to use Zimbabwe as a case study to show up the industry as a whole. It also ends on a statement which should make the reader think about the availability of diamonds in shops out on the high street and the true story behind the diamonds they could be wearing as they read.
I added a little zig zag pattern down he side of the text on this side to add some foundation to the text and give it some grounding on an otherwise floating body of text. The pattern also resembles the triangles from the shape on the other side, to tie the two together.
